The purpose of the C3 (“Culture, Cognition, and Computation”) Lab is to produce research on various aspects of cultural knowledge by using, developing, and extending computational methods.
We study (1) the mechanisms through which and the conditions under which various forms of cultural knowledge—attitudes, beliefs, cultural schemas, frames, discourses, stereotypes, classifications, and the like—are stable or susceptible to change, and (2) the relationship between cultural knowledge and patterns of individual and collective social behavior. We use a combination of natural language processing, network science, machine learning, and statistical methods to address these questions.
